Sheinelle Jones (Sheinelle Marie Jones) is an American journalist, news anchor, and correspondent for NBC News. On weekdays, she co-hosted Today’s third hour. She also hosts the educational nature program Wild Child, which airs on NBC’s More You Know block.
Sheinelle Jones is a well-known journalist who has made significant contributions to broadcasting.
She began her career at WICS in Springfield, Illinois, and went on to hold significant positions such as nightly anchor at KOKI-TV and WTXF-TV.
The National Association of Black Journalists honored her for her contributions to journalism.
She joined the TODAY network in 2014, first co-hosting ‘Weekend Today’ and then ‘3rd Hour Today’ till December 2019.
Her services to journalism and advocacy have been recognized with several accolades, including admission to the Northwestern University Medill School Hall of Achievement in 2016.

Sheinelle was up in Pennsylvania, United States, and was motivated by her mother, who surrounded the family with encouraging slogans.
She interned at a CBS television newsroom while still in high school. During her tenure at Northwestern University, she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, which has a long history in the Black community
She married Uche Ojeh after they met at Northwestern University.
She worked at a Philadelphia station for nearly nine years, where she was recognized for her efforts with children and youth groups.
In 2021, she will release the documentary ‘Stories We Tell: The reproductive Secret’, which will focus on reproductive challenges for women of color.
She received an invitation to the Tribute to Trailblazers Hall of Fame in 2021, an exhibition that recognizes outstanding accomplishments made by African Americans.
Sheinelle declared a brief leave of absence from TODAY in January 2025 due to family health issues.
She competed in the 2023 New York City Marathon.
In April 2025, she will release her debut book, ‘Through Mom’s Eyes: Simple Wisdom From Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans’.
She frequently posts photos of herself and her beloved dog on social media.
